The Athletic Hall of Fame has been established to recognize and honor those Cumberland High School athletes, coaches, and teams who excelled in their respective sports or coaching roles and who helped bring honor, recognition, distinction, and excellence to Cumberland High School by their conduct both on and off the field or court competition.
Who’s Eligible?
1. Athletes and teams are eligible for nomination 10 years after their class graduation.
2. Athletes must have competed in a VHSL-sanctioned varsity sport and must have excelled in such sport.
3. Coaches are eligible five years after they have left Cumberland High School.
What’s the Criteria?
1. Athletes should have impressive individual accomplishments, such as all-district, all-region, all-metro, and/or all-state.
2. Teams should have demonstrated accomplishments, such as team statistics or outstanding records and state championships.
3. Coaches must have made an impact on the overall athletic program at Cumberland High School during their era as evidenced by success of their teams and the acknowledgement of their former student-athletes.
4. All nominees should be in good school and community standing.
5. Only a maximum of seven nominees will be inducted in any given year. If no nominee is deemed eligible for induction, then no nominee will be inducted.
What’s the Nomination Process?

What’s the Timeline?
1. Nominations will open on March 15 and will close on May 1
2. Application packets will then be sent to the nominees by the CuCPS Athletic Department. Packets must be returned by June 1.
3. Athletic Hall of Fame Board Members will meet at a time determined by the Chairman to review application packets and elect nominees to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame (as outlined in the Athletic Hall of Fame Handbook).
4. The Chairman will notify all nominators and their nominees in writing of their status, even if not selected.
5. An induction ceremony will be held at a time and place designated by the Board.
6. Plaques will be added to the Athletic Hall of Fame wall honoring those inducted.
