Each year community churches, various organizations, and generous benefactors bring needed school supplies to Cumberland County Public Schools to distribute to students. The school division greatly appreciates the generosity and caring of its community partners.
The members of Sharon Baptist Church have been donating annually for many years. This year was no exception. Members showed up with a carload of pencils, pens, notebooks, composition books, crayons, and other supplies. Members of Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church have also been loyal supporters of the school and each year bring school supplies.
Payne Memorial Methodist Church in Cumberland also brought school supplies. They came with bookbags as well as boxes full of crayons, markers, pencils, and other supplies.
The Central Virginia School Airlift held a benefit “fly-in” event to bring supplies to Cumberland students. The organizers contacted participating pilots, who collected supplies and flew them into the Farmville Airport. Supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, glue, hand sanitizer, and other items were then brought to Cumberland County Public Schools. Other pilots, who could not make the trip by airplane, drove their supplies to CuCPS or made other arrangements to get them to CuCPS.
