Williams Named New Cumberland High School Principal
On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, the Cumberland County School Board approved Mr. Eugene Williams as the new Principal of Cumberland High School, effective August 2nd. Mr. Williams, who was assistant principal for Orange County High School, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Emory University in Georgia and his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mary Washington. Mr. Williams has also been an English teacher for Crossland High School in Maryland, an English teacher for Orange County High School, and an English teacher/Dean of Communication Skills for Techworld Public Charter School. Mr. Williams was also a full-time Administrative Intern at Massaponax High School, where he supervised the CTE Department, managed the substitute teachers, served as the 504 Coordinator, was the Coordinator of Footsteps to the Future (a program for at-risk students), and implemented the T.E.A.L. program (a program for Spanish speaking students and their parents). In addition, he has been the Assistant Varsity Football Coach, the Head JV Football Coach, and the Summer School Principal at Orange County High School. He will replace Dr. Jeffrey Scales, who resigned from CUCPS to accept a position as the Director of Secondary Education for Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
Mr. Williams will attend Open House on Monday, August 6, 2018, and will be available to meet students and their parents/guardians. All high school students and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.
