Cumberland Students Attend Minority Law and Research Institute

Cumberland High School (CHS) senior Sadai Trent and CHS graduate Trevis Trent (Class of 2017) were recognized by the Cumberland School Board at the September 2017 meeting for attending the 17th Annual Minority Law and Research Institute (MLARI) at the Law Center of Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The institute is designed to encourage under-represented students to consider careers in law, research, and the legal profession. A total of fifty rising ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders—as well as first year college students—participated in the summer institute from Maryland to Louisiana. The institute founder and coordinator is Dr. Joseph Hayden, a native of Goochland County.
